Tsk Tsk Tsk... Still not that "ECW" vibe we all hope for.
Thanks to 411 Reader Mike Perry for sending these results along!
ECW House Show – Huntsville, TX
Approx 500-600 in attendance.
2nd Row seats – Gotta love it.
Match one – "The Reject" Shannon Moore def. CW Anderson
Great opening match, I don't think a lot were expecting Shannon Moore tonight, however they definitely knew who he was. Very good pop for Moore. We started a "Arn was better" chant that got others chanting, of course, CW didn't like that. On the other side Moore got a lot of "Prince of Punk" and "3 Count" chants. He ate 'em up. Moore won with a rollup I believe.
Match two - C.M. Punk (Another surprise I don't think people were expecting) def. Fertig
Good match and I have to say, seeing C.M. Punk live was great. Sold very well. Lots of "We Want Pepsi" chants for Punk and Fertig got "Gangrel Wannabe" chants. The crowd definitely was hot for both opening matches. Punk won with the Anaconda Vice.
Kelly won a bathing suit showdown versus Francine. Francine looked old, and LOTS of flab on the back end. Did not look good at all. However Kelly looked great. Afterwards, Francine attacked her and we had a CATFIGHT!!!. Kelly took control and Francine bailed. Kelly started to take off her top but of course, Mike Knox came in and stopped it.
Match three – The FBI def. two unknowns. Seriously. I've never heard these two before ever. One name I did get was Ryan O'Rilley I think. The other I didn't get. They wore matching attire, so I figure they have a team name. The attire had "TT" on them. Anyways, FBI won this one, but afterwards Team TT beat down the FBI. Chants included "Where's My Pizza?" and "FBI" for FBI and "AJ Rip-off" for one of the others. He came out to the ring with a jacked similar to AJ Styles with the oversized head cover.
Match Four – Test def. Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer got one of the biggest pops of the night. He got on the microphone before the match and thanked everyone and commented that his column was suspended, however they can't censor him live tonight. He never really got into it, but just thanked everyone. Test got lost of "Roid Rage" and steroid chants, as well as "You can't Wrestle" chants. Test won with his F5-like move.
Intermission (only an hour into the show)
Match Five – Mike Knox def. Balls Mahoney . Balls definitely got a huge pop. Lots of gay innuendo chants toward Knox. Balls played the crowd well. No nutcracker or chair shots though from Balls. Kind of disappointing. Knox won with his finisher. Afterwards, Knox said that last Tuesday, something happened to him that would never happen again, Sandman caned him. This of course prompted Sandman to come out from the crown, in fact right next to us! Sandman did his beer crushing skit and chased Knox out of the ring. This prompted Stevie Richards to come in and cane the Sandman. After 5-6 cane shots, Stevie got on the microphone and challenged Sandman to any match he wanted. He accepted it, Dueling Canes Match.
Match Six – The Sandman def. Stevie Richards in a Dueling Canes match. As soon as Sandman said Dueling Canes, Stevie tried to hide them. Descent match for what it was worth. Sandman got his cane back and nailed Knox trying to come back in. Then hit the White Russian Leg Sweep for the win.
Side Note – I love the Sandman gimmick, however I saw something that really bothered me tonight. When Sandman came down, he popped open beers crushed them, spewed beer on everyone, but after his first crushed one, he gave the can to a kid. Not a teen, but this kid had to be no more than 6-7 years old. I don't know, it just caught me wrong for some reason. I understand that if you take a kid that age to an ECW event in the first place, they are going to see and hear things you probably don't want a 6-7 year old to see or hear. Anyways…..
Match Seven – Main Event – Big Show def. Sabu in an Extreme Match for the ECW Title. Both Sabu and Big Show got great pops from the crowd. Sabu started with a chair, but Show refused to go on unless Sabu got rid of it. Show had the upper hand until he threw Sabu out and Sabu got a chair shot in. Then Sabu got a table and more chairs. Chair assisted bulldog into a table by Sabu and triple jump leg drop. Sabu set another table up and was going for a table DDT, Show picked him up and choke slammed him for the win. Lots of Sabu chants. "Bischoff Made You" chants to Show where he replied "I'm a rich man" back to the crowd. "RVD" chants towards Show, and Show responded "Got Busted!". Crowd ate it up and respected Show for at least interacting with them.
Pops of the night –
Balls and Tommy tied for the top
Sabu
Big Show
Most Heat award goes to Test and that unknown team.
