alright well i hadnt played basketball since the end of last school yr. and went about two weeks ago, i had been there a long time at the gym and while we were running a full court game i get this horrible cramp in my calf, never had anythin like this before so im like ok ill try to just jog the best i can the rest of the game, didnt work too well, lol, so today i go back to the gym and am there a long time again and we finally get enuff people for 3 on 3 and i feel a twinge in my calf, i tell my friend fuck its gonna happen again about 15 minutes later there it is, just horrible pain in my calf, i sit out for awhile and come back to finish the 3 on 3 and the pain comes back this time in my toes, it felt like two of my toes were being pulled in opposite directions as hard as possible, so this time i walk it off and limp the rest of the game, we then run a full court game, im able to run pretty good this game, and towards the end of the second game, it happens AGAIN this time to my entire leg!!! my leg kept turning in towards my body and wouldnt stay in normal position, the pain was in my thigh and toes once again, i finally retired for the day after this, all this occurred in my right leg, and almost happened to my left calf (i felt it start up but it left right away), what the hell do i do, i love basketball but cant seem to get thru a competitve game without the pain starting, and its not like im unfit or anythin either, im about 5'5 and 120 pounds, ughhhhhhhhhhhhh

what ive come up with so far is maybe its cuz of the huge lapse in time ive played and have been playing too many hours, maybe i need better nutrition or somethin, or i need to stretch (never had to b4 so dunno why itd matter now)

Do lots and lots of stretching. I use to have pains like that in my ankles/shins after running everyday. Started doing martial arts/kickboxing which involve lots of leg strecthing I don't have pains like I did before. Eating good would also help too becuase it'll make your muscles/tendons stronger and give them more endurance but I think strecthing should be your biggest concern.

Yeah, you definitally need to stretch at least for 20 minutes before the game. Just do basic thigh stretches and you should be fine. If not you might wanna consult your doctor if this keeps happening, you might have something wrong.

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, just offering some advice.
I believe cramps like that are result of deficiencies in potasium and other nutrients. Well, not necessarily deficiencies that are bad for you, just that your body doesn't have enough to handle the heavy duty exertion you're putting it under after so many months. My suggestion: keep some Gatorade with you to stay hydrated when you play basketball, and maybe eat a banana or something beforehand to get some of those nutrients into your body. This is not to discount stretching though, that should help you out as well.

I can't stretch because it makes me get cramps. lol I know how it feels I just sit and let it go away. And when you think it's at it's worst. You get sick and it's nearly damn impossible to get to the fucking toilet. I know its useless knowledge, but when you think you have it bad just think of me ... Just thought it was interesting that someone besides me gets them
