The movie is known as Kolobos, and is a hybrid of the Psychological Thriller and the Slasher Horror Flick. Here is a Synapses of the plot:
A young woman named Kyra is admitted to a hospital with horrible cut wounds on her face. She cannot talk except she keeps repeating the word "Kolobos" over and over again. Flash back a 36 hours earlier, 5 "Progressive Minded" teenagers are invited to a house for a big brother-esque reality show. And because I know I have seen this movie, more people have seen Kolobos. But I digress. Things start to get creepy when one by one the teens get whacked by a mysterious killer. Noone knows who the killer is, but many start to suspect the troubled young woman Kyra because the deaths mimic her morbid artwork. But there is a man who is cutting his face away, could he be behind all of this? Too give away to much more would take the fun away from the film.
This may sound like many of the Slasher films you have seen in the past, but trust me when I tell you that it is unlike any other horror flick you will watch. It may take hints from other films (Notably Black Christmas) but it takes things in a whole new level.
I must warn you all that this film is an Indy, so some of the effects might be a little out there (When the killer is bashing one of the poor sap's head into a Bathroom counter) but it is done well enough.
The Deaths are done with unrelenting brutality though, with a touch of callousness when it comes to the well being of it's victims. It seems to try to mimic real life violence instead of cheap stab to gut, cough up blood, then die effects Slasher films seem to be so proud of. (I like to call them Friday the Thirteenth kills). It also builds suspense well as we are treated to juxtaposition between reality and the Horrid Hallucinations of Kyra as she has anxiety attacks.
Although a famous squirrel (And Jeff and Greg, I don’t mean me) said once “Just because you have seen everything, doesn’t mean you know anything” I would highly recommend this film if you were to take my word for it. Trust me, in the world of horror, I have seen just about everything the world has to offer.
And on a side note, tell me if it’s just me. Does Amy Weber (Kyra) look better with a mutilated face or what? I think I am just too Messed up from watching these movies so much.
