This is our final AA tournament for the Royal Rumble era in good ol' So Cal, and I still haven't gotten myself a Champ is Here or an ECW title, so I decided to build a strong deck while the gettin' is good. I choo-choo-choose you, A-Train!
Participants:
The People's Champ x2
Shane O' Mac
Paul Heyman
The Game
The Home Team (RawManiac)
John Cena
A-Train
Round 1:
vs. Paul Heyman
Well, he picked Cole as his Enforcer (which was a mistake), so I couldn't place my Fans Love an Underdog, but I was still okay with Banned and I Snot Rocketed his Underrated Superstar, so he had a poop handsize. Very forward match and got the pin.
Result: Pin 1-0
Round 2:
vs. The Game
I knew this decktype since I partially helped build it. He did Houston, Texas and discarded ALL of the cards. He also put out OG Manager making my hand even smaller. Not to mention he got Cerebral Assassin out on me. So there I was with barely any cards in my hand and no ability. I was lucky he didn't have many maneuvers to play or keep his handsize low enough to blank my ability and I sqeezed through a couple maneuvers. It was an uphill battle, but I eventually won with the Train Wreck.
Result: Pin 2-0
Round 3:
vs. The Home Team
One of my most hated decks to play against. And of course this was RawManiac, Anthony Escobar. I was lucky enough that he didn't draw a DTTAH for my FLAU and I pushed maneuvers through. But he chipped away my hand and I was left with nothing mid-game and he started pummeling me with Chain maneuvers and actions. He delivered a Break It Out and got rid of my fortitude and that was pretty much game.
Result: Loss 2-1
Despite the loss, I still get 2nd seat.
Semi-Finals:
vs. Shane O' Mac
I've played this Shanicus plenty of times in the past and I know how it works. Lucky for me I drew 2 Volley This, keeping him at bay long enough for me to beat him down (not to mention he forgot Here Comes the Money). A relatively lucky win, but a win nonetheless.
Result: Win 3-1
Finals:
vs. Paul Heyman
It was a rematch, and this time he wasn't making the same mistake twice and picked freaking Big Show as his Enforcer. One of the toughest games I've ever had to play. The craziest thing is that I almost won, but I believe I've made a few mistakes that eventually costed me the game. There was not much I could've done.
Result: Loss 3-2
2nd Place is better than nothing as I still got The Champ is Here, which is what I wanted. As the Royal Rumble era comes to a close, I'm excited about No Way Out. We're entering our first NWO tourny this Friday at StrategiCon and I'm still deciding what deck I should make.
