So I have been thinking of getting a 360, but I'm concerned about hte compatibility issues. There have been so many people saying that the backward compatibility doesn't actually work. Anyone know forsure or have some sort of foresight or something like that?

It does work, but only with a certain list of games. Im not sure which, due to the fact that all I play is Halo as of now, but it does play on the 360.

The list of the games in the other post, are they playable on thr 360 right out of the box? Or do I have to download that patch for them? I am in afghanistan right now and thinking about getting a 360, but not if I have to get that thing onto the internet to play the older games, which I can't do right now.

You have to download a patch for them. The only games that work out of the box are Halo, Halo 2, and Halo multiplayer map pack. If you have a CD burner, I think you can download the patch off of xbox.com and then just put that in 360. www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htmThat's the list of the games that are BC.
