Well, everybody knows that video games turned into movie adaptations are not really the best (Resident Evil, House of the Dead, Street Fighter... need I say more?). I can safely say Doom almost gets past that sort of stereotype. Doom casts The Rock as the main man Sarge, leading his team of marines to a research facility on Mars where a distress signal was sent. Another marine, Reaper, decides to go since his sister is a scientist there. As soon as they arrive, the movie tries to put you in a creepy setting, not showing any signs of monsters for the first twenty minutes or so. It still goes a little slow-paced when the monsters show up. When things start to kick up, it's a pretty cool ride. The characters are more or less one-dimensional, save Reaper and Sarge, so you can't get much out of them. There's this really nifty twist at the end that you'll probably say, "What the hell?!" to. And the first-person shooter sequence was actually freaking awesome, staying real true to the video game. All in all, Doom is a little more bark than bite, but I still enjoyed it as it was a Rock movie and I'm a big fan. Then again, how good can a video game movie get? My Rating: ;D ;D out of 5 ( = 1/2)

Resident Evil one was good but nothing like a blockbuster hit. Doom was also alright compared to other movies like "The Fog" which sucked major ass, and other gay ass movies. The twist at the end is cool but it was very predictable. The Rock lives up to the bark of this move, he plays his character very well being a hard, tough, Leader type man. This role for the Rock really brought him into the "Main Leading Role" for me since in his other roles, alot of emphasis was put on his supporting roles. Rating:

i liked the movie. i would have rather it been based on the first and second video games a little more. i think most people were really looking forward to the whole demon angle.
i read the 4 books that came on based on the game. they weren't the best written but the story was way cool. i think the movie would have been better based on the books.
the one thing i haven't heard too much on is....could they have made this film with only one character? i don't think it would have been all first person either that way.
doing it based on the books or old game would have lead to more things like figuring out that the creatures will kill each other, secret doors and more elevaters. i really missed the blood soaked walls and walls with the souls of the dead. they did do a good job with some hanging half bodies and the first person scene was great.
well thats my take.

Not sure what you're talking about, but Resident Evil turned out to be quite awesome. Besides the whole Hunter/Licker screw-up..

after renting it, i have to say i loved it. sure it wasnt that amazing. but i think it was really cool dispite not being Demons. i mean come on the whole idea was very Resident Evil-esque, you know the T-Virus. but oh well. and like the rock says in the special features he really was the BMFOTP.

It turn better then i thougth. I wish they base more on the games. They made it more a virus in the movie. . In the game it was monsters from hell an people who got turn into zombies. They cut a very big part of doom out of the movie. Lot my varate levals were the ones in hell.
