We got together last week and since everyone had Unforgiven already, we agreed to play with Unforgiven and usher in the new era. 9 people showed up and I opted to use Batista. Other superstars played:
Christy
Leader of the Peepulation
Rene Dupree
Torrie Wilson
Rowdy Roddy Piper
Chris Benoit
The Hurri-friends
The Dudley Boyz
Batista (me)
Round 1: Batista vs. Christy (Herber L.)
Stuff happened, he tended to recover a lot and then I succumbed to mass amounts of Christy's finisher. I don't recall much else about that match, except that I'd made a few mistakes and knew I could have fared much better against him; probably even won.
Result 0-1 (0 pts.)
Round 2: Batista vs. (none)
Weak sauce; got a bye.
Result 1-1 (3 pts.)
Round 3: Batista vs. Rene Dupree (Anthony E.)
Well, it turns out his deck is a lot of grapples and submissions ... so bad times for him. It was actually a very good match, but in the end I believe I hit the Batista Bomb for the win after much searching and drawing to try and find it.
Result 2-1 (6 pts.)
Well I got lucky that someone dropped out of the tourney, and I made the top cut because of it. Yeah, for me ... on to the semi-finals.
Semi-Finals: Batista vs. Rene Dupree (Anthony E.)
This match again! Well, things were going well for me. That was until I couldn't find any more action reversals in my hand. Anthony got a Simply the best through that just nuked all of my fortitude so I was kinda sitting there helpless. Several turns went by as I played every 0F maneuver I could search for or that I drew. He reversed them all ... arg, I was in a bad way because I was pretty sure the only maneuvers I could play were the one Spinebuster in my hand and 1 remaining Shoot Russian Leg Sweep in my deck. For some unknown reason he played a move for me to reverse so I got 6F from that Spinebuster. Slowly I made my way back into the game. Finally I played a Claw that went all the way through. Herber was sitting off to the side yelling "Maintain, Maintain!!!", so I was like "ok". I played a Maintain Hold on the Claw and Anthony's jaw dropped; his only response was "Who plays Claw/Maintain in Batista?" ... the answer to that is, I do my friend, I do. It came down to him having two reversals in deck, drawing one of them and then the Claw doing it's job. Whew.
Result 3-1 (9 pts.)
Finals: Batista vs. LotP (Wilson M.)
Well, he was a volley deck and I managed to draw a lot of strike reversals throughout the game so I held him down to about 4F. Eventually he had no choice but to run into my Batista's Spinebuster which really hurt him. After that I just played a couple more maneuvers and it was over.
Result 4-1 (12 pts.)
Yeah, I won. Woo. Ok, it's late ... I'm tired ... I don't know what else to write. Maybe I'll edit this later.
